is being extracted annually from more than 900 active quarries which
resources are unbelievable in rarity and unimaginable in variety. On the
other hand there are about 5000 plants engaged in processing stone and
producing slabs, tiles. The total production capacity of stone plants is
about 90 million square meters which is basically used to satisfy
domestic demands. But application of modern technology has resulted in
production of standard slabs and tiles which are presented to the
international markets. |

The International Construction Fair BUDMA 2007, held in Poznan on 23-26
January, was visited by over 50,000 attendees from 34 countries. Most of
them registered as experts visiting the show. The professional character
of BUDMA was also confirmed by numerous new offers presented by almost
1,300 exhibitors from 28 countries. Almost 1,300 companies showcased
their latest offers on four trade fair days in Poznan. Many of them came
from abroad – there were 327 foreign exhibitors, which is 25 percent of
the total number. This year’s BUDMA attracted many Polish and foreign
journalists. The PIF Press Centre issued a record number of 620
accreditations. |

show in the natural stone industry. The 42nd edition of the
International Natural Stone and Technology Exhibition closed yesterday
at VeronaFiere and posted impressive figures: international visitors
were up by 6% compared to last year, totalling almost 26 thousand visits
from 110 countries - setting an historic record for the show.Overall,
professional operators totalled about 65 thousand (+4%), of which an
impressive 43% international. Positive increases were also recorded for
other event parameters: 1,510 exhibitors from 50 countries (+4% over
2006), of which half international, over a net area in excess of 76
